Marlins place Bour, Riddle on disabled list

A couple of impactful left-handed hitters will be out of the Marlins' lineup for possibly a couple of weeks. As expected, Miami placed first baseman Justin Bour (right oblique strain) and shortstop JT Riddle (left shoulder tendinitis) on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday.

Spent most of season with Triple-A New Orleans...Posted .310 (104x336) average for Zephyrs, best mark of career when getting minimum 200 at-bats...Also drew career-high 27 walks, as well as 45 RBI, second- highest total of career...Six home runs were his most since career-high 11 in 2011 with Single-A Hickory...Opened season batting .370 (34x92) over first 26 games (through May 28), with 16 runs scored, seven doubles, a triple, one home runs, and 12 RBI...During that span, had a streak of eight games from May 14-28 in which he had at least one hit (.548/17x31), one run scored (8), and one RBI (9); tied for his longest hitting streak of season...Hit .325 in 12 games in April and .344 in 17 games in May before dropping to .280 in 21 games in June and .292 in 20 games in July...Finished Minor League season with .321 mark in 21 August games, with season-high 26 hits for the month...Tied season high with second eight-game hitting streak from...Aug. 18-27, batting .516 (16x31) with three doubles, a home run, and eight RBI...Had two stints with Miami; called up briefly from July 8-13 before being called up for remainder of season on Sept. 1...In final game of season, on October 2 at Washington, tied career high with two hits and set new career high with four RBI. Saw first career action at Double-A level, spending entire season with Frisco...led the TL in games caught (82), total chances (682), and putouts (608) by a catcher, compiling a .991 fielding pct. (6 E/682 TC)...threw out 37 of 115 (32.2%) would-be basestealers, 3rd-highest percentage in TL...batted .315 (29-92) with RISP...had 12-game hit streak, 4/29-5/18...hit all 4 HR in June, all while batting left-handed...was a mid-season TL All-Star, going 1-for-2 as PH/C in 6/25 game at NW Arkansas.

Spent entire campaign with Hickory (A)...selected to the South Atlantic League All-Star Game, going 0-for-1 for North on 6/21 at Delmarva...split time between catcher and DH, starting at catcher for the first time since 2009...threw out 27 of 120 (22.5%) attempted base stealers...batted .362 (47-130) with RISP and .329 (27-82) with RISP/2 outs...collected season highs in both hits (4) and RBI (5) on 6/3 at Delmarva.

2010

Spent the entire season with the AZL Rangers...tied for the team lead in RBI...was relegated to a full-time designated hitter role, after pre-season elbow surgery...hit .375 (21-56) with RISP...batted .414 (29-70) over last 19 games...season-high 5 hits on 8/2 vs. AZL Royals.

2009

Split the campaign between AZL Rangers and Spokane...combined to bat .330 (67-203) with 4 HR and 30 RBI in 53 games...tabbed as the 16th-best prospect in the Arizona League by Baseball America...threw out 13-of-67 (19.4 %) would-be base stealers...promoted to Spokane on 8/30...homered in 2 of last 3 G with Spokane, matching HR production through first 50 G of season.
